Several people have reported that the Rose and Crown on the A61 at Lofthouse has been closed for some time. Certainly the phone number is no longer active and a sign outside is referring to offers promised for October last year.
If anyone notices an upturn in the pub’s fortunes, please post a comment on the site.

The White Stag on North Street, Leeds 7, isn’t just devoid of real ale - it’s also closed. A metal fence now marks the perimeter of this pub, although a banner claiming “under new management” still hangs forlornly above it.
The White Stag features on CAMRA’s Regional Inventory, owing to its largely original 1930s interior: let’s hope its future remains unaltered rather than unantlered.

Our first bit of good news is that a new pub has already appeared on this run! Or rather, an old one has been reborn. The erstwhile Woolpacks reopened just before Christmas and is now known as Martha’s Alehouse. There are six handpumps on the bar, serving Wells Bombardier, Taylor’s Landlord and Best and a couple of guest beers on our visit. The pub is clean and bright throughout, with the bar in a room just to the right on entering and a homely lounge to the left. Both rooms have tv screens playing music and there’s a small pool room lying across from the bar too.
